Placing an Order
To place an order, please click on create an account. Complete your details. We DO NOT ask for credit card details. Add any items you want to the basket. If you want several of one item, simply add the item to basket, then change the quantity in the cart - you must then UPDATE the cart - you will see the price alter. The same applies if you want less than 1 of an item, for example you may require only 1/2 metre of fabric, or .25m of a tape if you want a sample to show customers. Simply add the item to the cart, then alter the quantity to a decimal fraction, i.e .5 for 1/2 or .25 for 1/4m. All the fabrics, tapes etc are priced per metre, unless stated otherwise.
Calculation of Postage
Postage and shipping charges are based on weight with a small additonal charge for packing materials. The charge will vary according tot he contents of your basket. Add items to you basket and choose checkout - the postage charge will be shown. You can still return to shopping and add or remove items, and recalculate the postage as many times as you wish. The order is only finalised when you confirm and make you payment. Once you have confirmed and made payment you will get an email, please note it is important to ensure after you have made your paypal payment that you are re-directed back to the Sewing Chest site, otherwise we get your payment but not your full order details. If you have ordered correctly you will see a little man on a surfboard with the word Confirmation next to him!Once payment is complete NO ADDITIONS can be made to your order. We do not have access to your credit card and cannot make any charges other than the one you have made
Dispatch & Delivery
We generally deal with all orders within 48 hours, usually despatch is the same or next working day after payment (cleared) is received. We despatch orders Monday-Friday only, as a norm, but occasionally despatch Saturday mornings if we have a backlog.
Postal methods vary according to the weight and value of your order, standard despact is Royal Mail First Class. If the courier service is lilkey to be unsuitable to you, you should let us know as we may choose this option for heavier parcels on standard despatch. You will be generally be required to sign for the parcel, if you are not home they will leave a card & you can arrange another day (mon-Fri)
Normally 3 postal methods are offered for UK customers, you can only choose standard, courier or Special Delivery
Courier/Special Despatch
We try to get all our orders out the same day, it is normally not necessary to choose special delivery and not recommended for very small orders as the postage charge is then excessive.
Please note that if an order is sent using a priority service on a Friday, you will probably not get it until Monday, whereas if we send it via first class, it may arrive Saturday. Generally all orders go out the same day the same day, provided your order is received in the morning (before 12noon) Courier despatch should not be chosen if you are not on the mainland.
Foreign customers need to choose the signed for option for orders above £30 in value. It may be beneficial to place two separate orders. Orders weighing above 2kg are very expensive to post.
When your order is despatched you will be sent an email. You can check the details of your order by logging onto your account. If you have not received your order within 5 days of sending payment, please contact us.
it is very rare that an item is out of stock, and not showing as such on the site. If an item you have purchased before is not showing, please contact us, it may be that we still have stock but the original figure on the site was set too low
Return Policy
Unused items may be returned if not required. No returns on used items or cut fabrics, tapes etc unless the item is defective. We will not accept returns after 30 days. If you have ordered the wrong item, please return it for a refund. You will then need to order the correct item
If an item in your order is incorrect, please call or e-mail us regarding the problem within 7 days of purchase date. We will give you details of the postal method you need to use to return it. We will refund this amount and send out the correct items as soon as the return is recieved. If you use a different method of postage to that which we have advised you do so at your own cost and risk. We will only refund the amount agreed beforehand.
SAMPLES:
Please request samples of fabric if you are uncertain as to whether it will meet your requirements. We are happy to put a few swatches in with an order. If you are not ordering you will need to send in a pre-addressed stamped envelope.
